Tucked away off Hanoi’s Hang Trong in a French-colonial house, Puku cafe is spread over two floors. With its colorful walls, comfortable sofas, wooden tables and wireless internet connectivity, the first floor is a good place to both meet friends and to work.
The first floor has a typical colourful Western style, with bright walls and soft sofas. Wherever you sit in Puku’s airy dining room, you are sure to feel at home. The first floor also features regular exhibition promoting the work of local artists.
If you would like to have more fresh air, head up to the second floor, where you can enjoy a view of Hanoi’s old streets. This eclectically furnished floor is a successful combination of Western and Vietnamese decoration and furniture. In addition to the comfortable sofas, there are bamboo curtains, and bamboo fishing-tackle, all under a traditional palm-leaf roof, giving an insight into Vietnamese culture.
Puku offers a wide range of both meat and vegetarian dishes, including vegetable lasagna, eggplant bake and vegetable gratin, all of which sell for VND30,000. Other popular choices include the super Kiwi breakfast, bangers mash, pancakes and Caesar salad.
In addition to their fantastic coffee and fruit juices, Puku also offers beer, a wide range of soft drinks (VND8,000) and a selection of cocktails (VND35,000). And to make sure you keep coming back, when you buy nine cups of coffees, you will get one free.
