Only 20 minutes by motorbike from the heart of bustling Ho Chi Minh City, the Thoi Gian (Time) Restaurant has an ambiance amid nature peculiar to the Vietnamese countryside. Its stone-paved entrance path is lined with shade trees, giving you a feeling of freshness as you look around and at the smooth lake hidden among the shade trees nearby.
Diners at Thoi Gian enjoy not only the fine food of the Vietnamese culinary art but also relax within an atmosphere of tranquility as they lie in a hammock by the side of the lake or a canal, watching boats passing by. You will even be delighted to contemplate the exquisite collection of old furniture and implements of a Vietnamese farming household: a bed made of hardwood planks, a bamboo paddy mill, a hand plow, and an oxcart.
The restaurant serves more than 100 popular dishes typical of the Vietnamese cuisine. And to introduce their unique styles, the kitchen is by the side of the dining pavilion so that the diners can indulge themselves watching the cooks preparing their meals.
The restaurant owner has such a delicate touch that he hangs decorative lanterns under the red tiled roof of the pavilion, which gives an impression of Asian ambiance. And if you visit on weekends, you will be more delighted with many art shows typical of Vietnamese culture, especially the Vong co, a traditional tune of Southern Vietnam.
