While a visit to Danang provides an excellent opportunity to try local specialties like banh canh (rice noodle with snakehead fish and crab) and my quang (noodles with beef, chicken and herbs), no visit would be complete without dining abroad the Song Han Floating Restaurant.
Song Han is famous for it’s location as much as for its food and a meal abroad this three-storey imperial-style boat on the Han River is a feast for the eyes and ears as much as for the palate. Fitted out with rattan furniture and bathed in a soft, golden light, the restaurant can cater to around 500 guests and has become a popular venue for wedding, birthday and anniversary parties.
This unique restaurant has become one of Danang’s leading tourist attractions and now offers two dinner cruises every evening. The first cruise departs at 6 pm and returns at 7.30 pm for the boat to pick up the second group, which departs at 8 pm and returns at 9.30 pm.
A dinner cruise abroad the Song Han is certainly a special experience, allowing diners to enjoy poetic views of the Han River, Tien Sa Gulf and Hai Van Pass at sunset, while after night falls, the river twinkles with the reflections of the lights of the town.
Song Han also features live traditional music on request, or you can take to the stage yourself to entertain your friends and family.
Song Han charges VND 20,000 for adults and VND 10,000 for children for each of it’s cruises, with food and drinks optional. And because it is in Danang, of course the restaurant offers excellent fresh seafood at very reasonable prices (grilled squid from VND 80,000, steamed sea-bass from VND 120,000), as well as a range of Eastern and Western dishes.
