Thailand is known for not only tourism but also food. In many western countries, Thai food is popular. There is no exception in Ho Chi Minh City, where people can find a place to explore Thai culture and authentic cuisine.

Thai Garden Restaurant at 03 Dong Da St, Tan Binh Dist is designed in a way that gives diners a feeling of being somewhere in Thailand.

The garden is decorated with items skillfully made in Thailand, such as statues of elephants, a popular animal in Thailand, pictures of the Thai Royal boat and wooden walls used in Thai houses.

People preferring a cozier place to chat with friends could go indoors, where there are also decorations featuring Thai temples on the ceiling.

Thai Garden offers diners more than 80 Thai specialties like Tom Yum Goong (a famous hot and sour soup), Gaeng kiew Wan Kai (green curry), Thai Garden chicken (chicken wrapped in pineapple leaves served with sticky rice), Pad Thai Goong (fried noodle), grated papaya salad with salted black crab and Pad Kra Pao (chopped beef or pork stirred with basil leaves).

Beside green curry, there are many kinds of curry suitable for various appetizers such as yellow curry, red curry, and curry cooked with beef, pork, chicken and crab. For dessert, there are tabtim grob (coconut milk dessert), Tago (coconut cake) and more.

Some dishes are made by Thai cooks, and certain ingredients and spices are brought from Thailand to guarantee the authentic flavor of the dishes.

The manager of Thai Garden is a Thai who has stayed in Vietnam for 10 years and can speak.

Vietnamese fluently. He loves Vietnam and even calls himself Na in order to make it easier for Vietnamese friends to remember his name.

Na explains that Thai cuisine has some similarities with Vietnamese cuisine but it uses more herbs and spices, especially chili, and all these ingredients are mixed up to make the dish a balance of all flavors.

When famous Thai football player Kiatisuk played for Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club, he often went to Thai Garden for lunch or dinner.
