A traditional house compound of the Vietnamese ethnic majority will be inaugurated in the Vietnam Ethnology Museum on October 11, announced the museum.
The replica of the house includes a main house, which was transported from the central province of Thanh Hoa in 2000. It also has wing rooms, a kitchen, a dining room, a buffalo sty, a front brick yard, a rain water tank and a water well, which are integral to a traditional house in rural Vietnam. The project was funded by the Finish Embassy in Vietnam.
The museum has also just finished the replica of a traditional house compound of the Cham ethnic minority with assistance from the Norway Government.
In addition to five houses as part of the compound finished in 2001 and 2004, recently 13 Cham artisans recently came to the museum for a month to build rooms that house traditional rice-grinding facilities and farming tools, as well as a water well of the Cham style to complete the project.
