In it’s latest incarnation as a Mediterranean steak house, the Daewoo hotel’s la paix restaurant offers a relaxed yet elegant dining option.

La Paix, the famously elegant restaurant at the Hanoi Daewoo Hotel has recently broadened its concept from traditional Italian to Mediterranean Steak House. If you are seeking a new dining option and are tempted by the call of the Mediterranean, look no further. La Paix offers the robust and comforting flavours of olive, wine and aromatic herbs indicative of that region.

Entering the restaurant, we are welcomed by the warm and inviting smells of typically Mediterranean spices. Aromatic plants are beautifully presented in a glass cupboard. With its high ceiling, elegant ceiling lights, sea blue walls and floor carpet, yellow silk curtain and colorful table cloths, this restaurant creates the relaxed but elegant ambiance of a magnificent Mediterranean world.

La Paix has three main areas including the dining tables, a large balcony, and two private dining rooms – each catering for groups of up to 12 – offering different venues options for everyone. If you go with a group of friends, the private rooms with their comfortable sofas may suit you best. But if romance is what you are after, I highly recommend you to book a table on the spacious, airy balcony overlooking the Daewoo’s lush palm garden and stylish swimming pool.

With such a lovely view, I am transported out of Hanoi and back to my recent relaxing holiday in magnificent Van Phong Bay, Nha Trang. But what about the food? All dishes are lovingly prepared by the skilled kitchen staff, under the watchful eye of Head Chef, Bobby Christian.

La Paix Mediterranean House offers a wide selection of soups, cold and hot starters, pastas, fish and sea food, deliciously prepared with the addition of a wide range of herbs and aromatics, including garlic, basil oregano and rosemary. It is difficult to go past their wide range of delicious grill dishes, ranging from pork chops to salmon or steak, all served with your choice of delicious sauce and crisp onion rings, Their extensive menu is complemented by a carefully selected range of wines from the region and beyond.
